MARS is proud to present an ambitious new body of work by French artist Stéphane Guiran directly from his studio in Spain. The exhibition will showcase large and small sculptures centred around an installation of glass and steel, inspired by a mandala.

Stéphane Guiran was born in 1968 in France and currently lives and works in Spain. In 2001 he left the world of graphics for sculpture working on abstract lines, looking for harmony and strength, trying to get closer to the silence hidden behind the mirror of reality. In 2004-2005 he perfected his mastery of metal during a one-year residency in Barcelona, opening the doors to his monumental sculpture.

The sleek line work of Guiran’s sculpture, inspired by calligraphy and Japanese haikus, evokes an imaginary writing that unfolds in space. Guiran works predominately in glass, drawing and photography. “…Consistent and deliberate, his work is allied with the essential, between matter and spirit, method and momentum, humans and nature. It imposes its decisive presence by leaving us with thefeeling of harmonious wholeness..” – Gérard Xuriguera, Text from the preface of the book “Sculpture Path” FVW Editions, 2011.

Exhibition runs from 5th March until 2nd April 2016
Opening nigh on Friday the 4th March 6-8pm
MARS Gallery, 7 James Street, Windsor VIC 3181
