The first of its kind in Australia, Zuster presents the Jewel Collection, an exclusive range of heirloom-quality furniture for the home. Launching at DENFAIR in Melbourne (2 – 4 June), the Jewel Collection represents a fresh and bold new approach for this multi-generational family furniture design company.

Composed of ten bespoke items, each piece has been individually crafted in Zuster’s Melbourne factory, harnessing the expertise of expert cabinet makers and McCarroll’s unique creative vision. “The Jewel Collection is the result of a very organic and creative process which pushes the limits of our craft. Each item within the collection holds a certain kind of magic that strikes a chord and makes a special connection with the user,” said Zuster Designer/Director, Wilhelmina McCarroll.

Drawing the collection together is a rich and earthy palette of luxurious and precious materials. Hand carved timber forms the base of the collection alongside exquisite embellishments of hand-blown glass, precious stones, specialty marbles, and warm metallic hints of copper and brass.

At the very heart of the collection lies the concept of jewel-like embellishment, brought to life through exclusively sourced quartz and citrine – two earth elements rarely used in furniture design. The collection also features elements of hand-blown glass, hard-carved timber and specialty marble. Collaborating with local artisans, McCarroll has designed each piece to carry its own unique centrepiece. For the Jewel Lotus Flower Cabinet, a master hand-crafter has carved a delicate lotus flower that unfurls across the centre of the cabinet. Doubling as a door handle, this piece is topped by a precious stone, hand carved into the very heart of the lotus.
