Hülle & Fülle have designed a new multi-purpose space for an online fashion retailer Zalando, located in Berlin, Germany. Presentations and press conferences during the day, large-scale events and company parties for more than 300 people at night. In addition, the space also offers areas for co-working, small team meetings, lunch and coffee breaks. And last but not least, the interior layout provides flexibility to accommodate team yoga classes and other fitness activities.

This multi-functional interior where hotel lounge meets cinema and office worlds, is set within a split level envelope in a newly built office complex across from the Eastside Gallery. Two main features connect the space visually: a wide timber podium runs parallel to the glass facade on street level, bridging the height difference functionally in form of an auditorium, moving up to a platform for the lunch area and finishing off as a tribune for small team meetings. Here a semi-transparent metal grid structure is installed, to protect the indoor space from onlookers, but also to offer several ways of window display and presentation methods within the event space.

An extensive tiled wall separates the lower from the upper level, where the structure incorporates a bar counter to work on, view presentations or just watch countless tourists strolling along Berlin’s former wall. Behind this counter the space features an upholstered wall in changing shades of blue with bespoke hooks to display the seasons changing merchandise and fashion looks.

The choice of materials and contrasting colours is as diverse as the different scenarios, ranging from concrete flooring to glazed tiles, dark stained timber, patterned woven vinyl flooring, textiles and handmade brass elements.
