X Chair by Hermann August Weizenegger for OUT Collection, Berlin Brutal, Product Design | Yellowtrace

A radical design by Hermann August Weizenegger for the OUT (OBJEKTE UNSERER TAGE) collection, the X-CHAIR challenges the viewer as brutally as a building that has fallen out of time.

The X-CHAIR in matt black breaks the light, once it touches the smooth surface. A monument that works both as a statement in the living area and defies wind and weather outside.

The X-CHAIR is made from 100% recycled polypropylene, setting the new standards in responsible production. According to OUT, “currently on the market so-called recycled furniture contains maximum 1-30% of the recycled material component”. The sustainability concept for the X-CHAIR goes further. Clients can return their chair to OUT years later, after which it will be processed into granules that go back into the production cycle.

Environmental responsibility cannot exist without social responsibility – local production takes place in a medium-sized family business, 80 km from Berlin. OUT’s worldview is to create objects that are produced regionally and fairly. Responsible design – brutally arrived in the here and now.

The X-CHAIR by OUT will be presented in the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts from 09.09.2020 to 10.01.2021. The chair is available via objekteunserertage.com and at various premium dealers online and offline.
