Studio Arthur Casas’ TP Apartment is a dreamy, neutral enclave tucked away on one of the most elegant streets in Paris. The focus of the project was to fulfil the wishes of the clients for a practical, integrated space to accommodate family life.

The studio describes the project’s biggest challenge as adapting to the limitations imposed by the original building envelope. Having said this, Arthur Casas celebrates and highlights the existing structural bones in the interior, with exposed timber beams bringing an element of rustic warmth to shared living areas. An oversized steel beam cuts through the centre of the living space bringing an industrial element to the otherwise polished interior. These moments speak to the history that is already embedded within the building, a narrative that is now intertwined with the present.

“The social area brings together, in the same environment, the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen”, explains Arthur Casas.

“In order to delimit each area, the furniture was arranged so it could define the project’s layout. The monochromatic palette and materiality guarantee the aesthetic harmony of this space,” he says.

Natural fibres, neutral tones and timber textures combine to create calming, deeply welcoming spaces. Light-toned fabrics and white-washed walls are counterbalanced by moments of darkness found in furniture pieces and in the dark stained cabinets of the kitchen.

The considered and delicate relationship between light and dark creates a balanced scheme that speaks with elegance and sophistication. Moments of colour are injected into the interior through artworks, most of which were chosen alongside the client in Paris.
