The MILANTRACE 2022 film follows three key themes—Past, Present and Future.

MILANTRACE 2022 is over for another year, and it was one like no other for Team Yellowtrace, as we returned to Milan Design Week & Salone del Mobile after a three-year hiatus. The triumphant return to the city was marked by beauty, inspiration and plenty of hope—all of which we brought home with us to share with you.

If you’re unfamiliar, MILANTRACE is our annual project that brings unparalleled coverage of Milan Design Week & Salone del Mobile. Presented as a talk series by Yellowtrace editor & founder Dana Tomic Hughes, the mould-breaking format is the most comprehensive and democratic overview on the market, delivered as an immersive audio-visual experience with original photography, video content, signature critical insight and plenty of personality. Our talks ultimately explore the many facets of the world’s premier design event—some of the things you might expect to see, but also plenty you don’t.

This year we’ve stepped things up a notch with a short film we developed for our talks, which we have now decided to open up to a wider audience.

From interviews with design luminaries like Luca Nichetto, Hannes Peer, Cristina Celestino, Joseph Grima, Fien Muller, Laila Gohar, Bethan Gray, Tom Dixon and Lionel Jadot; to footage that takes you up close and personal with design precincts and amazing shows spread across the city; this documentary-style snapshot is a not-to-be-missed archive of Milan and the week that unfolded in June 2022.

The film follows three major sections responding to the key themes we felt very strongly on the ground—Past, Present and Future. Whether you’re seeing it for the first time or re-living the journey, there’s something there for everyone.

It’s a reference, it’s a memory, and ultimately—it’s Team Yellowtrace’s love letter to Milan.

We hope you enjoy! xx
