Byron Bay-based Marz Designs has unveiled Polaris, a lighting collection that bridges Brutalist geometry with the guiding symbolism of the North Star. The range comprises wall and ceiling fixtures characterised by refined, tumbled metal forms that function as both luminous objects and architectural statements.

The collection’s design language centres on monolithic star-shaped extrusions that showcase raw materiality softened through tumbled finishes. Each fixture’s vertical perforations diffuse light with sculptural precision, casting shadows that elevate the form into a statement of artistry. This approach offers lighting conceived as three-dimensional objects, transcending functionality.

Polaris offers flexibility across residential and commercial applications through its range of scales and finishes. The ceiling fixtures are available in small and large profiles, while wall-mounted versions come in three sizes to suit varying spatial requirements. All pieces can be specified in either tumbled aluminium or tumbled brass, with each finish offering distinct textural qualities that develop character over time.

The tumbling process applied to both metals creates an organic, matte surface that contrasts with the geometric precision of the forms. This treatment adds depth and tactility whilst reducing reflectivity, allowing the fixtures to integrate with diverse material palettes. Both brass and aluminium evolve with a natural patina over time, with brass offering warmth and aluminium a cool, industrial refinement.
