Last month, Jardan took its design thinking outdoors with Shoreline, a collection built to stand up to Australian sun, salt and sudden downpours. Etta brings the Melbourne brand back inside, and the brief changes completely. Nothing here has to survive the weather. The question Etta asks is quieter and, frankly, more interesting: what happens when a sofa and its tables are designed as one idea rather than two separate purchases? The answer is a collection held together by a single language of soft, rounded forms. In plenty of living rooms, the sofa handles comfort and the coffee table is chosen to stay out of its way. Etta takes the opposite view. The sofa is generous and enveloping, the tables are sculptural and composed, and the curves running through both are what make them belong together. This Yellowtrace Promotion is supported by Jardan. DISCOVER MOREJardan's Collection Built Around Australian Summers, Long Lunches and Evenings That Linger.Jardan has turned its attention outdoors with Shoreline, built around Australian summers, long lunches and evenings that linger. The Etta Sofa sets the scale. Its proportions are deep, with a high back and a high seat that make it a properly generous place to settle in. Wrapped arms and back cushions soften the silhouette, giving it a relaxed presence from every angle rather than a single good side. It works as a standalone sofa, or as a modular system where oversized corner modules open up expansive arrangements for larger rooms. Jardan has also introduced Monty, a new fabric developed for the range, which adds a tactile layer that suits the sofa’s rounded edges. Then come the tables, which is where Etta gets interesting. Each is made from two softly rounded volumes stacked one on top of the other, with the upper form appearing to float above the base. It’s a simple construction with a strong silhouette—sculptural without being fussy, and clearly related to the sofa’s curves while working at a smaller, firmer scale. Available as coffee and side tables, they can be used individually or grouped into longer compositions, which gives the tables the same arrangement logic the modular sofa offers. Colour sharpens the contrast. The tables come in two high-gloss finishes, Auburn and Kelp, that bring a rich, expressive quality to the collection, and can also be finished in any of Jardan’s standard 2pac colours. Set against upholstery, that lacquered surface does a lot of work. Soft meets hard, texture meets shine, and the shared geometry keeps the whole thing from tipping into contrast for its own sake. That relationship is the real point of Etta. Designed in Melbourne, the sofa, modular configurations and tables work together or independently, so the collection can move between different living spaces without losing its character. Jardan’s handling of proportion, colour and material is consistent with everything the brand does well—comfort taken seriously, with a sense of play left in.The Etta collection is available now in Jardan showrooms across Australia and online.
