Salone del Mobile returned this past June, and our highlights have been coming in hot and fast. For Glas Italia, the Salone’s return was a chance to once again showcase a mind-bending collection of glass furniture. Alongside an impressive wrap sheet of collaborators, the brand pushed the envelope further than ever before and even delved into the archives for inspiration.

The new collection unveiled pieces by very big names, including Barber & Osgerby’s Como Mirrors, the Donald tables by Philippe Starck, the Simoon tables by Patricia Urquiola and others by Piero Lissoni and Yabu Pushelberg. The manufacturer also welcomed Inga Sempé to the Glas Italia family with a new mirror cabinet.

This year also saw the brand—which was founded in 1972—recreate the Andromeda wall mirrors by Nanda Vigo, a homage to the historic collection designed for Glas Italia in 1974.

Bold, fun and often unexpected, Glas Italia took its core material to new heights. Experience it for yourself below.

Donald High and Low Tables by Philippe Starck

Anchored by a thick mirror-polished stainless steel plate the Donald High tables are square and rectangular tables topped with a coloured transparent glass that dissolves and fades into itself. “By the magic of transparency, reflection and diffraction, a Donald can hide a Donald” as Philippe puts it.

The Low tables of the same collection are a series of parallelepiped-shaped coffee tables created in thick laminated glass and complemented with a super-thin stainless steel perimeter. Use them in a group or as a single element.

Simoon Tables, Console & Writing Desk by Patricia Urquiola

This collection of low, high and console tables and a writing desk are made from thick ground polished extra light glass slabs coated in a special grit ground Murano glass, available in amethyst, light blue and topaz colours.

Mandarin Chest of Drawers by Piero Lissoni

Just one of Piero Lissoni’s designs for Glas Italia, the magnificent series of glass drawers are constructed out of the transparent colour laminated glass with a contrasting base and drawers made from ash timber. The result is an object with a refined technical solution, a high aesthetic and formal value.
