Major extreme love alert! Let’s just say that this post is a bit of a wet dream for me due to the unlikely pairing of the two things I love so dearly – the genius of Ray and Charles Eames and the awesomeness of Street Art. Phwoar! Now I have to say that this is kind of old news, but who cares – it’s awesome and it still deserves to be talked about, right? Curated by artist Billi Kid and photographer Luna Park, ‘Eames Inspiration’ was a charity auction for the benefit Operation Design’s New York Educational + Design initiative, which “originated from the belief that great design creates a better environment for learning.” Umm, amazing! The 20 Eames chairs were re-imagined by some of today’s most celebrated graffiti and street artists, and displayed in Barneys Madison Avenue store windows during the auction period [May 2010]. The entire collection was purchased by SUSHISAMBA, a popular restaurant which embraces street art.You can see all the chairs right here.[Found on Apartment Therapy.
