Designed by the talented Kirsten Stanisich, director at SJB Interiors, the brief for this terrace in Sydney‘s Redfern called for an overall sense of calmness. In order to achieve this, Stanisich focused on texture, and applying simple but sophisticated detailing.

The existing footprint and original decorative elements of the house were retained and restored. New steel framed windows were inserted into the existing openings, bringing natural light into the living areas.

A three dimensional quality was considered for all of the finishes and furniture. These include ribbed timber cabinetry and the show-stopping splash back made from a selection of marbles and flamed finished granite, all with an underling shade of blue or grey. The storage continues into the dining space to form a generous kitchen as well as the sense of a separate dining space in a reasonably small floor plan. The simple detailing and focus on texture continues into the living and bedroom spaces.
