Bridging the gap between art and design, Marcin Rusak’s mind-blowingly beautiful ‘Flora’ collection of furniture and lighting is made from real flowers encased in black resin. What? I KNOW!Once set, Rusak cuts the resin blocks to reveal the intricately beautiful compositions within; a cross-section of petals in all shapes and colours that resemble ancient fossils. Combining Rusak’s interests in botanical aesthetics and materiality, the ‘Flora’ collection is the result of two years of his experimentation into creating durable and valuable products with flowers. The resulting whimsical range includes a table, a screen and a lamp – all crafted with his flower-encased resin, cast brass framing and mouth-blown glass. Extreme love doesn’t quite cut it for this one – think it’s time for a new term to describe the off-the-charts-kind-of-love. Any suggestions?
