Ivy Studio were inspired by Parisian apartments for the interior of this progressive dry cleaning counter Les Nottoyeurs White’s in Montreal’s residential Boucherville neighbourhood. Founded by two young entrepreneurs looking to disrupt the dry cleaning market, the brand’s ecological, customer experience-driven ethos is reflected in the counter’s chic, minimalist design.

Attention to detail such as mouldings, high ceilings and a selective palette of quality materials comprise the aesthetic of the 75sqm interior. The store embodies a feeling of old-world opulence, with an elegant colour scheme dominated by black and white with touches of brass. Custom terracotta herringbone tiles stand out against pristine white walls, a visual play on the name, which casually abbreviates to ‘White’s’.

The intricate mouldings across each interior façade were added to enhance a sense of intimacy despite the exaggerated 4.2m ceiling height. Custom brass pendant lights made by local studio Lambert & Fils help to further balance the proportions of the shop front. A bespoke set of recessed shelves displays a selection of eco-friendly cleaning products for clothing and home, with a rail ladder reminiscent of old-world libraries running across the top.

Large street-facing windows frame views of the monolithic black marble counter and brass lights overhead. Concealed doors and a glazed wall to the rear conceal clothes on a conveyer belt and other in-house operations.

Ivy Studio also completed White’s dry cleaning factory located in a different part of Montreal. The warehouse space sticks to the same clean black and white palette, with white surfaces punctuated by industrial-sized branded washing machines. Certainly the most chic-looking laundry factory we could imagine.
