The BB Collection is a series of hand-made, collectible design pieces by Paris-based Corpus Studio. The sand-cast aluminium composition follows the axiom “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

The basic structural form—a simple wheel forged from aluminium—is divided, repeated and assembled in a poetic manner to make a chair that is aesthetically striking and surprisingly comfortable, with the nape supporting the back.

The sand cast technique also employed in a process of repetition. A single mould, hand carved from wood, is used to make sand-resin anti-mould, into which molten aluminium is poured. The same sandcast piece is poured several times for each of the chair’s limbs.

The result is both minimal and maximal, brutalist and glamorous, sensual and humorous.

Founded by Konrad Steffensen and Ronan Le Grand, Corpus Studio creates spaces, objects, places, stories, atmospheres and environments. The BB collection is Corpus Studio’s first foray into collectible design, borne from COVID times. The BB chair, which is the first piece of the collection, debuted at the 2022 Collectible Design Fair in Bruxelles. Other pieces in the collection will soon be released and include a coffee table, side table, stool, chandelier, and a cascade pendant light.
