Based between London (UK) and Groningen (NL), Atelier Areti creates beautiful lighting in close collaboration with master craftsmen and manufactures in Germany and Sweden. Formed in 2008 by sisters Gwendolyn and Guillane Kerschbaumer, Atelier Areti was born after years spent at architecture and design offices around the world.

Gwendolyn and Guillan’s international perspective is evident in their impeccable aesthetic. The Austrian/ French sisters grew up in Austria and Germany. Gwendolyn received a Bachelor in Visual Arts / Sculpture from Duke University, Master in Architecture from Harvard University, followed by Master in Advanced Architectural Studies (building with natural resources) at the ETH in Zurich. Goly! Guillane completed her foundation year at Atelier Albers, Paris and received a DEUG in art history and archaeology from the Sorbonne in Paris. She then went on to study Product Design at Central Saint Martins where she graduated in 2006. Her final year project was a glass light exhibited at 100% East, which led to the development of Areti’s first lighting collection.

Aterlier Areti exhibited in Milan this year as part of ‘Edit’ by Designjunction. They pretty much had me at brass, black and white, and of-course – those thin black lines. Super beautiful stuff.
