Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen opened its doors to welcome sophisticated beer lovers in May 2010. Mikkeller is one of the world’s best microbreweries known for experimental brewing. They teamed up with Danish design agency Femmes Regionales to create this charming social spot in the center of Copenhagen (in the heart of Vesterbro).
I find it really difficult to describe and sum up the style of this interior. It’s neither classical, nor contemporary, although it feels like both at the same time. I suspect that the budget was reasonably modest, but the outcome is nothing short of rich and interesting. A seriously posh place to grab an ale, yet there is nothing intimidating about it. Love love.
The brief called for a tranquil setting in order to draw a more chilled out crowd, as opposed to stereotypical table bashing drinkers found at other pubs. “We like to demand something from our audience – beauty generates beauty”, says Caroline Hansen, one of the founders of Femmes Regionales.
Tres clever. As if we needed any more proof that the Scandos are rocking it in the design department. Seriously. Is it in their water?

I alwasy think great design is in the details and this is a perfect example where real attention to detail has created a masterpiece.
I am in love with the eclectic mix of chairs and the free standing draws on the wall, to create the perfect place to put your beer.
