Photo © Fabio Gambina. The Oltre chandelier designed by Dorte Mandrup is the collection’s standout. Mandrup, an internationally recognised architect, explains her approach: “When we design spaces, we always work with both daylight and artificial light in relation to a defined surface. Light and materiality are deeply interconnected.” The chandelier features a thin aluminium plate that creates a visual illusion of floating onyx stones. When illuminated, light diffuses through the translucent stone surface, accentuating the natural veining patterns, creating both tactile and visual effects. The Aura fixture, developed by Snøhetta, represents another significant advancement. Constructed from highly efficient polymethylmethacrylate, this piece generates a vortex of light that integrates seamlessly with various architectural environments. Marius Myking, director of product design at Snøhetta, articulates their philosophy: “Rather than designing a fixture to hold light, we set out to design light itself.” This approach exemplifies how lighting design continues to evolve beyond traditional constraints. The fixture closes the composition with the warm light of its bronze louvre, combining aesthetic refinement with practical functionality. The Lenticchia fixture presents another impressive technical achievement with its 750 mm diameter and 12,000 lumen output. Designed by Pritzker Prize winner Peter Zumthor, the piece demonstrates how high performance can be achieved within minimalist design parameters.Viabizzuno’s approach combines craftsmanship with technological innovation.
