It was back in the 1970s that Kartell first introduced its innovative Kartell in Tavola collection, creating colourful and imaginative designs through an experimental approach to materials and technologies. Now the iconic design company is adding a brand new collection to the Kartell in Tavola range, teaming up with renowned chefs and designers to create sophisticated and practical pieces for the table. Chefs included Davide Oldani of Milan’s famed Cornaredo restaurant, Andrea Berton and Carlo Cracco, and designer’s Jean-Marie Massaud, Philippe Starck and Patricia Urquiola.

The invitation to chefs was based on Kartell’s respect for their commitment to perfection. Davide Oldani’s flawless approach is embodied in the ‘I.D.Ish by D’O Davide Oldani’, a line of dishes made in either bone white or bronze coloured melamine.  Patricia Urquiola’s ‘Jellies Family’ is an articulated line of plates, trays, glasses, bowls and carafes made of vibrantly coloured and transparent injection-moulded polycarbonate. Each piece features a different pattern, which reference memories of Urquiola’s youth. And presenting his first collection for Kartell, Jean-Marie Massaud’s ‘Namaste’ set of melamine dishes features a soft, asymmetrical design suggestive of flat stones. With a natural palette of black, grey, beige and orange, the plates can be matched or contrasted.

The collections will be available from Space Furniture’s Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane showroom and through Space’s online store.
