Sydney-based interior designer and stylist Lucy Montgomery has launched a debut collection – a trio of handcrafted plaster lamps complemented by bespoke tailored cushions made with custom-designed hand-painted linen fabrics.
Being exposed to some of Australia’s most impressive homes and interiors, Lucy was often challenged to source an accent table lamp with an artisan feel that would effortlessly add a collected layer to a space.
Drawing inspiration from Spanish mission-style architecture, travels along the Mediterranean and European designers including Alberto Giacometti, Lucy has created a collection handcrafted in Sydney using local artisans and trades. The collection’s three lamp bases Del Rio, Minerva and Foglia, use plaster as a medium with classic silhouettes reborn in clean contemporary lines. Their soft white patina presents versatility to be incorporated into any interior scheme. Lucy has carefully paired the bases with custom-designed shades and sourced the finest hardware and fittings.
“I wanted to create timeless pieces which would forge a harmonious intersection of art and functionality,” says Lucy. “Lamps and soft furnishings have the ability to enhance an interior scheme, layering a new source of illumination, tactility and colour. This alters not just the ambience, but also has the ability to tie an entire room together, bringing it to life.”
The launch of Lucy Montgomery Collection signals a creative shift for the interior designer, stylist and interior design editor. For more information, visit lucymontgomery.com.
