Australian hardware specialists Bankston have unveiled their latest collaborative triumph at Copenhagen’s 3 Days of Design festival, introducing The Streaks collection—a striking range of architectural hardware that challenges conventional expectations of what door furniture can be.

Developed in partnership with Yasmine Ghoniem from Sydney’s YSG Studio, this spirited collection of timber door levers, pulls, and joinery pieces represents a bold departure from traditional hardware design. The collaboration marries Bankston’s reputation for exceptional craftsmanship with YSG’s fearless approach to spatial storytelling. A winning combination all round!

At the heart of The Streaks collection lies a celebration of natural timber’s inherent beauty, enhanced through ingenious stratified banding in contrasting tones. Despite their vibrant appearance, these aren’t stained timbers—each piece showcases FSC-certified timber’s natural colouring, from subtle light combinations of American White Ash paired with Australian Blackbutt to distinctive bands featuring American Walnut with Australian Red Cedar.

We feel that each piece in The Streaks collection is like a little personality in itself—bold, cheeky, and full of energy.”

The collection’s thoughtful organisation into three distinct groups—The Headliners, The Hit Makers, and Supporting Acts—allows for a bespoke approach to hardware selection. Hero pieces, like the Straight Streaker Lever and Kooky Streaker Lever, command attention, while supporting elements, such as the aptly named Narcissist Star Cupboard Knob, add character throughout spaces.

The collection’s name cleverly plays with multiple interpretations of ‘streak’—from the literal visual element of contrasting bands to the emotive associations with personality traits and winning streaks. This conceptual depth elevates functional hardware into something approaching sculptural territory.
