Design Free Thursday // Accident Series by Zeren Badar.

    20th March

Artist and photographer Zeren Badar has an intriguing way of creating compelling art. He does it by accident. Ok, so that may not be completely accurate, but as you see in this series of photos titled “Accident Series”, Badar explores a peculiar combination of photography, painting and collage to create new and unexpected images. In this photography project, he puts together unlikely combinations to generate a 3D feel with found objects, food and cheap old paintings to generate a completely new type of image.

Ruyi Dumpling & Wine Bar by Hecker Guthrie // Melbourne.

    19th December

Ruyi Dumpling & Wine Bar opened its fabulous Hecker Guthrie designed doors earlier this month in Melbourne. The 56 seater restaurant is a union of beautifully presented contemporary Chinese food, exceptional design and modern restaurant culture. Translating literally to ‘as you wish’, the name Ruyi derives from a Chinese heirloom symbolising power and good fortune. In typical Hecker Guthrie style, Ruyi interior is beautifully considered and highly resolved in it’s entirety. For me, the real strength of this project lies in all the special little details…

Design Free Thursday // Baguetting Around.

    25th July

Just as I though I’d seen it all, along comes another left of field Tumblr blog. Baguette-Me-Nots is a brainchild of comedians Tim Bierbaum and John Milhiser of Serious Lunch. The duo take photos of actors and comedians who substitute ordinary objects with baguettes. So dumb yet extremely hilarious…

Design Free Thursday // Bauhaus Food Photography by Nicky&Max.

    20th June

Nicky&Max is a blog run by British photographer Nicky Walsh and German chef Max Faber. I am positively in love with one of their latest projects Bauhaus, a food photography series inspired by the German design school from the early 20th century…
