Brera Highlights – Moroso, Missoni, Boffi, Nodus, Hermès, Fritz Hansen, Paola Lenti, Agape, Seletti | Milan 2011.

    23rd May

Morning and happy new week to you all. Wowee – last week was a massive one for me. So much to tell you, but all in good time – we have to get through all this Milan stuff together first.

Today I would like to share some of my photos of the things I saw in the Brera Design District. This was definitely my favourite fun-filled day in Milan this year. The weather was just beautiful, we had a fantastic crew of some of my dearest friends, everyone was dressed-up and looking a million bucks (alway a good feeling) and we saw some great stuff. Brera is such a fantastic part of town – located in the historical centre of Milan, it is a densely packed neighborhood with a host of high-end design showrooms, galleries, cafes and some amazing shopping…

Salone del Mobile | Milan 2011.

    17th May

After my morning visit to the SaloneSatellite, next stop was the bigger-than-Ben-Hur Salone del Mobile. Holy moly, my poor little feet were already sore after all the walking. This year marked 50 years of I Saloni which has grown significantly since it’s humble beginnings. In case you are interested, in 1961 the fair welcomed 12,000 visitors to a 11,000 square metres of display space and 328 exhibitors. This year, the fair received over 300,000 visitors to over 200,000 sqm of display space and over 2,500 exhibitors. EPIC!

These photos were taken across 4 different halls which housed all the major brands. This year’s most talked about stand was definitely Kartell, and it just so happened to be the very first one I saw at the fair. Half my luck hey, as everything was downhill from there… Kidding!

    SaloneSatellite | Milan 2011.

    16th May

Hello, hello! Happy Monday to you all! Thank you for being so patient and for waiting for me to sort through (some of) my Milan photos. Phew. What a task. I decided to kick off my Milan review with a visit to SaloneSatellite, which was pretty much my first stop on the circuit this year. Perfectly logical, no?

SaloneSatellite was located at Pavilions 22 – 24 at Milan Fairgrounds at Rho, the gigantic purpose-built exhibition ‘city’. This event focuses exclusively on young and emerging designers and I find it to be one of the most interesting exhibitions, as it is a perfect place to spot new talent and gain an insight into the future of design. This year marked the Fourteenth Edition of SaloneSatellite (which ran from April 12 – 17 2011), where 700 young designers and 20 design schools showcased their creativity…
