“Whoever wishes to do great things must think profoundly of the details.” – Poet and writer Paul Valéry, via Atelier XJC.

If you are a regular reader of yellowtrace (high five to you – woohoo!) you would know that I don’t usually post about fashiony wearable type stuff (Fashion PR peeps – are you paying attention? Cause I am so taking to you! Please stop sending me stuff I don’t blog about, k?) Alas, today I decided to break one of my own rules and post about this experimental jewellery by Swiss luxury design firm Atelier XJC. These incredibly intricate pieces, which reference feathers, scales and large delicate ruffs, were commissioned by Atelier XJC for their 10th birthday, resulting in a collection of cuffs, collars, a hat, a bag plus a few other sculptural pieces.

Now… that’s all well and good, super amazing and beautiful, etc, etc. But what I am really intrigued about is the awesome photography by Paris based Milo Keller & Julien Gallico, and even more so – the exceptionally intriguing choice of models. Amazing, right? It is so great to see non-conventional, engaging, interesting, left-of-field characters modelling these conceptual jewellery pieces. It is precisely this choice and the overall art direction which actually made me stop and look at the collection, which ultimately led me to sharing it with you guys. Very clever.
