Q: Why are you charging a fee for Editorial Placements? As a free publication with unparalleled industry influence and audience trust we’ve been building since 2010, applying value to high-quality production, writing, curating, marketing, and tireless hard work is a natural way for us to future-proof our business. Simply put, monetising editorial opportunities enables us to continue to produce and maintain the high-quality publishing standards Yellowtrace is acclaimed for.We are confident our Editorial Placements represent exceptional value through affordable win-win-win editorial solutions that build awareness, drive conversations, and generate qualified leads for our clients and partners. Q: How and where do Editorial Placements appear?Editorial Placements appear as follows:— On the Yellowtrace website homepage for several days— Shared to our daily newsletter subscribers via the lower email section: ‘More from Yellowtrace’ — where it will appear for several days— Instagram sharing is an optional add-on and may be purchased when booking the approved activity in the Self-Service Advertising Shop Link herePlease note that we are extremely selective about what projects we champion on Yellowtrace, and publish less than most other digital publications out there, which means our Editorial Placements are highly visible. Q: Does this mean you will now only be running editorial that’s been paid for?Not all content we publish will be paid for. Yellowtrace ethos is still very much to share projects that uplift the design community and celebrate a diverse mix of work and designers we wish to champion. However, with an influx of daily submissions of such high calibre, and the increased cost of running a thriving digital publication with major cut-through, this offer has been devised to help us prioritise and expedite projects in our Editorial Calendar while also future-proofing our business model. Q: I look at Yellowtrace a lot and was never aware of having seen any obvious paid-for editorial. I have just looked again and can’t understand whether anything on the first page is paid (or partially paid for) coverage? There are restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores and offices, and lots of different types of commercial projects, but they all look like editorial. We hear this a lot, and this is because we spend a lot of time curating and editing content to ensure cohesion. This speaks to the high-quality curatorial approach honed over many years, ensuring every project and designer is seen in the very best light. We spend time on marketing others, not just showcasing their projects. Q: Will Editoral Placements be listed as a Commercial Placement/ Promotion/ Ad? Or do they appear as any other editorial? Editorial Placements are not a traditional ‘Promotion’ or an ‘Advertisement’—they are strictly pre-approved submissions with editorial coverage executed at the sole discretion of Yellowtrace. All Editorial Placements are footnoted with the following statement: “This Editorial Placement has been vetted to align with Yellowtrace’s stringent selection criteria. The modest contribution we receive for these placements aids in our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional quality content.” Q: I would like my Editorial Placement to also appear on Yellowtrace’s Instagram. Is this possible?Instagram sharing is an optional add-on and may be purchased when booking the approved activity in our Self-Service Advertising Shop. Q: Do you offer Instagram-only packages?Yes, we do. Please get in touch with our team to discuss, or head to this page to register your interest. Q: Do you offer other Paid Editorial/ Advertorial opportunities?Yes, we do. While Editorial Placements are our most affordable editorial solutions, our other more premium commercial solutions are executed with client input and/ or in partnership; with in-depth reporting and analysis offered at the conclusion of activities/ campaigns. If this is of interest, feel free to get in touch with our team for more information and examples, or head to this page to register your interest. Q: How does a resi project fit into the commercial placement? We consider anything that works toward strategically building a designer’s profile within the A+D community and premium client segment to have a commercial bend. Especially when the project has been pitched via a communications/ PR specialist. Q: What currency is your pricing in? Prices are shown in AUD. Q: Are you able to provide any agency commission reduction? Due to the affordable nature of these placements, we cannot provide agency commission reductions. However, if you’re interested in exploring some of our more premium editorial/ partnership offers, we may be able to extend agency commission for some of those bookings. Q: What is your policy/approach if there are 2-3 projects that you could confirm for coverage from the same design studio/designer or brand? To publish, all projects have to be vetted by our Editorial team and provided they meet the criteria, we are happy to publish more than one project from the same designer. We would share these projects no closer than 3 weeks apart (but our recommendation would be 4-6 weeks apart) so as not to oversaturate, especially considering we don’t publish as much as some other online platforms. The Editorial Placement is our affordable entry-point offer that mostly covers production costs. We can offer a bundle discount of 10% for booking 3 projects. However, we would need to receive the booking and all the assets for multiple projects at once to minimise additional admin. Q: What is the deadline for submitting all material after payment has been made? How quickly do you turn around articles?Once we have received payment and all the necessary assets, the turnaround time is approximately 2 to 3 weeks (subject to editorial calendar availability). Q: Are you able to provide previous examples of articles and newsletters like this? — See article examples here and here.— Daily newsletter inclusion examples are here and here (refer to lower email section: More from Yellowtrace.) Q: I understand that the information cannot be edited once I submit the press release. Will there be any fact-checking or preview available before the article is published? Due to the cost-effective pricing of this placement, we’re unable to offer article previews before publication. Nevertheless, please be assured that we invest significant effort and meticulous care into every piece of content we create. Our goal is to deliver the best possible outcome and ensure that the content aligns perfectly with your brand and Yellowtrace. Q: What is your policy with requests for changes? After the final assets have been received and/ or the story has gone live, all requests for changes will incur an additional fee. In the unlikely event your request for change is due to our editorial team’s error, all changes will be attended to as promptly as possible. Q: How do I know if I am set to complete the payment? (I see on the checkout page it says, “Obtain Yellowtrace approval prior to payment.”)The approval has been obtained by virtue of us sending you this opportunity (we only do it for projects that meet our editorial criteria). Q: How do I finalise the booking? What are the next steps? To proceed with the booking, please head to the Self-Service Advertising Shop. Be sure to select the item that includes the relevant Instagram package to suit your needs.Once we have received payment and you’ve submitted all assets, the production turnaround time is approximately 2 to 3 weeks (subject to editorial calendar availability). We will be in touch to advise the article’s publish date within 48 hours of obtaining payment and assets. Q: Can I request articles to go live on a specific date? This will be dependent on how far in advance the booking is made, and how booked up our editorail calendar is. As a minimum, we will be able to guarantee the week an article will go live.
