Highlights From Venice Architecture Biennale 2014.

    4th July

The Venice Biennale has been one of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions for over a century, alternating each year between hosting Art and Architecture exhibitions. This year, the 14th International Architecture Exhibition takes place from 7 June to 23 November at the Giardini, the Arsenale and various other venues throughout Venice. The title chosen for the exhibition by this year’s curator & prominent Dutch architect, Rem Koolhaas, is Fundamentals.

Rudolf Stingel at Palazzo Grassi // Venice Biennale 2013.

    13th June

Italian-born, New York-based artist, Rudolf Stingel is currently presenting an installation at the Palazzo Grassi, the opulent Venetian estate of billionaire collector François Pinault. The exhibition is conceived by the artist in partnership with Elena Geuna, and it was specifically designed for the 3-storey, 5000 square meter building located on Venice’s Grand Canal. Stingel’s decision to cover all the walls and floors of the entire Palazzio in carpet is an incredibly brave gesture. At times it appears as though the bold, oversized pattern could be seen as distracting from the paintings, although the result is much more profound than that. The artist has created a completely immersive environment that challenges the distinction between the artwork and it’s setting…

More than 150 artists are taking part in the Biennale, and the event attracts approximately 300,000 world-wide visitors – from artists, art-lovers and collectors…

The Re-Birth of Palazzo di Vigonovo (Campiello) // Venice, Italy.

    23rd July

This project is such a wonderful example of what is possible when history, art, architecture and technology unite to create a single grand gesture. After three full years of renovation, Campiello is given a new lease on life, featuring a magnificent Corten steel facade created by art historian Philippe Daverio and artist Giorgio Milani, overseen by the local architecture firm 3ndy Studio. The intricate pattern of the facade features a meticulously hand drawn pattern by Milani which references the buildings history dating back to 17th century…
