The Standard by GamFratesi // Copenhagen, Denmark.

    18th November

The Standard in Copenhagen is the latest venture by renowned Danish ”gastronomic entrepreneur” Claus Meyer, with world famous jazz musician, Niels Lan Doky. Together with the Danish-Italian design duo, GamFratesi, they recently set out on a journey to transform a former custom house in into a “new cultural and gastronomic landmark” with three world-class restaurants and a jazz club – a project that sets a new standard (boom boom!) for the Copenhagen dining scene…

Avigdor 22 Event Space by Pitsou Kedem Architects // Tel Aviv, Israel.

    2nd August

Avigdor 22 is contemporary event space, designed by Pitsou Kedem in collaboration with Dan Troim Architecture. Unlike the unfortunate images conjured up in my mind at the thought of event venues, at Avigdor 22 there are no hints of unnecessary frills, generic furniture, over-designed carpet, ceilings plagued with ugly bulkheads and predictable lame-ass lighting. No sir! This space is all about crisp lines, high ceilings, abundance of concrete and steel, with elegantly utilitarian furniture. A perfect place for a histper Bar Mitzvah…

As Good As New pop-up shop by i29 // Amsterdam.

    24th October

Well isn’t this just a little bit clever? You’re looking at a pop-up shop for a second hand Dutch furniture brand As Good As New. Located in one of Amsterdam’s super-cool fashion stores SPRMRKT (who’s owner clearly isn’t a fan of vowels), the project is a collaboration between advertising agency Gummo, Dutch studio i29 and Krimpex coating systems…

Hotel Mera Brasserie by LOFT Magdalena Adamus // Sopot, Poland.

    21st September

Hotel Mera Brasserie is located in a seaside town of Sopot in Poland. It was designed by a Polish studio LOFT Magdalena Adamus. What I really like about this place is the way it balances the serious with the casual. It is sharp and carefully put together, yet it remains easy and playful…

    Helga Steppan.

    18th February

Just the the other day, I received a little correction message on yellowtrace’s facebook wall to say that one of the images I had in my Visual Diary album was incorrectly labelled. What? I know – shocking! Yes, I made a mistake. I really hate it when I’m human. Anyway, the message was left by Helga Steppan, the actual author of the photo I incorrectly labelled. What do you know…

So I set out to quickly correct my mistake and, in doing so, I discovered a wonderful project which Helga did a few years back called ‘See Through’. Helga audited all of the belongings and divided them into a full spectrum of colours – White, Black, Yellow, Red, Miscellaneous, Blue, Orange, Green, Pink, Grey, Purple, and Brown. Wow! It must have taken her ages to go through all her stuff like this. But what an incredible result…
