    Marble has been enjoying a moment in the high-design and fashion spotlight for a little while now. Designers across the globe have been busy reinventing the way they are using marble – from architecture, interiors, furniture, lighting, art, homewares, clothing to styling. This is not at all surprising, given that nothing is quite as impressive or speaks of sophistication and luxury as eloquently as marble. Here are some of my favourite examples that embrace and channel this precious natural material so beautifully…

    Highlights from Sydney Indesign 2013.

    This year, industry event “Saturday Indesign” was renamed “Sydney Indesign” with the program spread over three days from Thursday to Saturday. Despite the name change, I found out the hard way that the event remains, very much, centred on the Saturday. I visited most of the showrooms on Friday and was left a little underwhelmed. Many showrooms had sparse guests, business as usual styling and a notable absence of drinks and snacks…



    Fort Standard // Industrial Design Studio in New York.

    Fort Standard is a Brooklyn-based contemporary industrial design studio founded by Gregory Buntain and Ian Collings. Pure geometry, sophisticated detailing, and long lasting natural materials like timber, marble and brass are the hallmark of their work. The pair have developed a distinct design language rooted in simplicity and functionality, attention to detail, connections and materiality which they describe as a “warm-contemporary” aesthetic. I, on the other hand, describe it as hipster-ville…



    Discipline Arrives at Stylecraft Australia.

    Oh happy day! I feel thrilled to tell you a little story about Discipline – young forward-thinking Italian design brand with smoking hot products to boot. And to make matters even more exciting, their beautiful, well designed and consciously made furniture is now available in Australia exclusively through Stylecraft. Boom!
