Started in 2010 as a passion project, Yellowtrace quickly gained powerful momentum and gathered a loyal following amongst the design community and those passionate about design in its many forms.

The Role:

We are seeking an Advertising Partnerships and Events Manager, not just to ensure that our ad inventory is filled, but also to help us grow our opportunities and develop a more comprehensive offering both online and offline. In this role, you’ll have the chance to develop, optimise and scale Yellowtrace’s sales, partnerships and events area.

Reporting to the Directors, you’ll also be providing support across all areas of digital publishing as required, including digital marketing, PR, events, writing, social media activity and general day-to-day operations.

Your primary responsibility in this role is to generate revenue by sourcing and securing advertisers across online, social, speaking gigs, bespoke content creation, products and any other properties that we develop.

Primary responsibilities:

– Proactive sales prospecting and lead generation
– Enjoy going above and beyond to build strong relationships with key contacts from brands and media agencies, and ensure that clients’ needs are met and any concerns are addressed
– Proactively develop and present sales opportunities for new and existing clients to expand and maintain advertising base
– Negotiate contracts and coordinate media placements
– Diligently communicate all requirements to the editorial team
– Ensure that all digital campaigns go live, including the collection, submission and ultimately live pushing of assets
– Campaign performance reporting to clients and obtain feedback
– Maintaining a high level of contact with clients, brands and media agencies to update them on available advertising and marketing opportunities and encourage repeat business
– Meeting and complying with key performance indicators (KPIs) and revenue targets
– Define, report on & over-deliver on key performance metrics
– Represent Yellowtrace at client and industry events

Strategic responsibilities in collaboration with directors:

– Ongoing development of advertising sales, partnerships and events strategy
– Develop internal systems to grow the advertising team in line with business strategy
– Assess advertising performance and how to improve results on an ongoing basis
– Seek and develop opportunities for growth and new business

Desired skill set and experience:

– Experience working in media sales, marketing and/or agencies in the design & lifestyle media space
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Creative and persuasive presentation and negotiation skills
– An understanding of the publishing/media company eco-system at large, including digital-first media companies and the differences with their counterparts
– Understand data and metrics and their use to make informed decisions
– Driven with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and motivation to help build Yellowtrace – experience in working in real startup environments is a bonus
– Self-motivated, proactive, highly organised with strong admin skills
– Ability to work under pressure and display attention to detail
– Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative team player
– Must have a strong understanding of what Yellowtrace is about
– Keen interest in digital business and in tune with the web, social networking and the creative industry
– Have a genuine passion and appreciation for all things creative
– Can-do attitude and a sense of humour


All Contractors will be required to sign an Employment Contract, which includes Confidentiality and Intellectual Property terms.

Duration & Attendance:

– Initial 12-month contract (12-week probationary period)
– Commencement date: flexible
– 3 days per week (possibly up to 5 days / full-time – subject to experience and availability)
