It’s difficult to peruse the portfolio of Yellows Photography without entering into an excitement induced cardiac arrest. Scrolling through their website gave me a case of visual pleasure overload.

Danish duo, photographer Mikkel Rahr Mortense and stylist Gitte Kjaer, are the makers of this styling magic. The unexpected compositions, often in contexts that are difficult to place or at least difficult to imagine inhabiting in the traditional way, give their images an exciting, hyper real quality. At the same time, the textural subtleties and the presence of imperfections- crumpled textiles, peeling paint, straggling cords – keep the images grounded and relatable.

The success of their photography is partly due to the handsome subjects that their clientele bring forward. Clients include Bo Concept, RUM Magazine, Louis Poulsen and Lightyears. Having said that, I get the sense this power styling team could probably make a wheelie bin seem glamorous.
