    Natsumi Zama’s 2→3 Fashion Collection.

    24th July

Japan-born London-based young womenswear designer Natsumi Zama holds a BA Honours in Fashion Design and Technology from London College of Fashion. Since graduating in 2009 Zama has launched her own fashion label while working as a freelancer machinist. Her most recent collection entitled “2→3” (two to three) is a series of garments that explore how material can be transformed from it’s two dimensional form to a three dimensional object. Each garment, when laid flat, looks as though it is mounted on a large expanse of square fabric, but when worn on the body this backdrop transforms into sweeping folds that dress the figure in pleats and fluted shapes.

Refurbished Heritage Apartment in Madrid Photographed by Juan Baraja.

    2nd July

It’s always a tricky thing, negotiating a contemporary brief with an existing heritage space. While many designers might obsessively refashion a square peg for a round hole, revealing as little evidence of this process as possible, Spanish architect Francisco Javier Eguiluz takes the opposite approach. Instead, he expresses some of the incongruous quirks that result from this process. Dog legged floor finishes, new rooms that straddle over two existing rooms and the deliberate expression of demolished walls. This is a space that does not try to paper over its past.

Loft FOR by adn Architectures // Brussels, Belgium.

    15th April

Ahhh goodness. Are these images real or is this some artist’s impression of a place where gravity doesn’t exist? The slickness of the folded steel stair is verging on implausible. That thin and that crisp? Really? Alas, you’ll be pleased to know that this loft is real, it’s just been subject to the wizardry of adn Architectures in Brussels.

So Hot Right Now // White Tile Black Grout Interiors.

    4th April

You know, I’ve come to realise that black grout can be a perfect friend to a humble little white tile. The sort of friend we all wish for – one who makes us look better, feel smarter and stand out in the crowd. In honour of this realisation, today I’m sharing a selection of cool projects that feature white tiles with black grout – from residential and retail interiors, to offices and styling sets.
