Design Days Dubai is Middle East’s first dedicated design fair, returning for its third edition with a diverse collection of compelling, highly collectible contemporary design pieces and installations. Don’t worry – you haven’t missed it – we are just way too excited, and wanted to give you the opportunity to snoop around this awesome event before it even happens between 17th – 21st March 2014.
It’s a busy start on the design circuit with fairs & events raging left, right and centre. First there was IMM Cologne, Maison et Objet is literally just behind us, while Stockholm Furniture Fair is happening as we speak. But how to keep up with it all? Never fear, Yellowtrace is here! So let’s not beat around the bush – this post is dedicated to the best new gear unveiled at Maison&Objet design fair held in Paris, between 24th and 28th January 2014.
What do you get when you mix Scandinavian design with a Japanese aesthetic? A symphony of beauty, simplicity and extraordinary detailing. In other words – every designer’s wet dream! Stockholm-based Erik Törnkvist and Malin Belfrage of ETAT Architects have designed this little library dedicated to the sea. The space is located inside a 1920s schoolhouse on Awashima Island in the Seto Inland Sea. The Library is part of the Setouchi Triennale 2013 – it is a place where visitors are invited to donate books about the history and stories of the ocean….

Earlier last year at Salone Internazionale del Mobile, e15 unveiled an exceptional collection of re-editions by renowned modernist German architect and designer Ferdinand Kramer®. Working closely with Kramer’s family and the archives, twelve iconic pieces from various creative periods were showcased from 1925 to 1959.
