“Mimicry” is a quirky little series of images by Dutch photography duo Maurits Giesen and Ilse Leenders of GiesenLeenders. Each colourful scene captures two matching characters perfectly camouflaged in their environment. Without trying to get all super analytical and intelligent about it, I find there is a real feel-good element in each of these images…

Just the the other day, I received a little correction message on yellowtrace’s facebook wall to say that one of the images I had in my Visual Diary album was incorrectly labelled. What? I know – shocking! Yes, I made a mistake. I really hate it when I’m human. Anyway, the message was left by Helga Steppan, the actual author of the photo I incorrectly labelled. What do you know…
So I set out to quickly correct my mistake and, in doing so, I discovered a wonderful project which Helga did a few years back called ‘See Through’. Helga audited all of the belongings and divided them into a full spectrum of colours – White, Black, Yellow, Red, Miscellaneous, Blue, Orange, Green, Pink, Grey, Purple, and Brown. Wow! It must have taken her ages to go through all her stuff like this. But what an incredible result…
