Badass Embroidery by Ana Teresa Barboza.

    4th December

Peruvian artist Ana Teresa Barboza is so mother f*@$#!%g badass with embroidery and drawings. No, but seriously, have you ever seen embroidery look this mean? Except for maybe this one time, at band camp. There’s something so captivating about these images, don’t you think? They are equal parts delicate, feminine, gruesome and spine-tingling. She describes herself sarcastic as needed, and a full-time thinker who must write about life, human behaviours and play with words to keep breathing…

Design Free Thursday // Silke Baltruschat’s Handicrafts.

    19th September

Silke Baltruschat is a Hamburg-based graphic designer and illustrator with a real knack for transforming ordinary things into something entirely different. I recently came across her Handarbeiten series – which according to Google Translate means” handicrafts”, so I’m going to roll with it. Baltruschat transformed vintage posters from the 70′s Schulmädchen-report and embroidered them with black cotton thread to resemble body hairs. Awkward and wrong, but seriously funny…
