The City of Lights is the source of inspiration for Porcelain Bear‘s latest Metro collection. Each design is clad in handcrafted porcelain tiles that reference the iconic Paris metro.

Renowned for their deep understanding of porcelain, Gregory Bonasera and Anthony Raymond of Porcelain Bear push the boundaries and take the material to new heights. From lighting designs to tableware and furniture, the skilled designers and craftsmen take the centuries-old craft and transform it into covetable contemporary designs in their Melbourne atelier and showroom.

The Metro is a reflection of Bonasera’s love of Paris. “I’m a Francophile,” he says. “I love Paris and it was one of my first international trips when I was 21. I adore the work of Hector Guimard, who designed a lot of the entrances to the Paris metros. Although our Metro series doesn’t reference Art Nouveau, it does reference the Paris Metro.” The Metro series features porcelain-tiled columns in three size variations.

Burley and Slender are available as occasional tables called ‘Metro Side’. The Metro series also include ‘Metro Coffee’, a striking coffee table that features one or two Metro columns with an elegant marble top and base. The series also includes stunning dining table variations, which feature the robust Butch Metro supporting a solid marble top.

The beauty and versatility of the Metro series can also be seen in Smalls Bar in South Melbourne. Designed by Fiona Lynch Design Office, the award-winning space features a beautiful bar clad is stunning porcelain tiles from Porcelain Bear’s Metro series.
