Sydney based manufacturer Luxmy Furniture is the new distributor of the iconic Danish brand Paustian in Australia and New Zealand. This acquisition of distributorship comes with the timely release of the brand’s ASAP collection.

The cornerstones of Paustian are their commitment to design, innovation and high standards of quality. The company’s heritage-listed flagship store in Copenhagen was designed by Sydney Opera House architect Jørn Utzon between 1985 and 1987. The inspiration for the design came to Utzon while he was walking through a forest of beech trees – “Walking in the Danish beech forest is like walking in a peristyle. Upwards this peristyle branches off into the tree crowns, forming the roof of the peristyle. Clearings are like skylights in the dark forest. Coming out of the forest to seashore or an open field, you pass the fringe of the forest, where trees often stand closer and form a barrier against the open landscape.”

Paustian’s ASAP collection was designed by award winning Danish designers Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen. The chair and table both come in black and white versions with customisable finishes, and both were recipients of the Red Dot Design Award in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
