The newest addition to a growing global cohort of designer gyms and health studios is Mia Yoga Studio in Russia by Crosby Studios. The trend of sweating it out somewhere a little more stylish is here to stay it seems, whether you’re into 45 minutes of HIIT, spin, hot yoga, boxing, or guided meditation. Founded by artist and architect Harry Nuriev, Moscow and New York City-based Crosby Studios never disappoint when it comes to colour-blocking and bold, candy-inspired shades in unexpected places (this shiny, lolly pink floor, for example). Mia Yoga Studio is yet another sample from the studio’s portfolio of dreamy, gelato-hued spaces.

“10 years ago I had a yoga class at another studio with the future owner of Mia Yoga Studio,” Harry Nuriev explains. “I was dreaming to change the design of the space all the time [back then] So here we are.”

The studio’s feature colour (if you like) is a creamy pistachio, for the floor of the actual yoga studio, and for the reception desk, change room bench, and bathroom accents. While Harry would have “probably used yellow instead of light green” for the project, we’re pretty happy he went with his client’s wishes on this one, as green seems like a much more soothing shade for a downward-facing dog.

In what’s possibly becoming a Crosby signature, the white walls and arched windows of Mia Yoga Studio are framed in thin black lines—giving it a sort of cartoonish, pop art feel (it’s an idea Harry also used in this dusty pink Parisian bathroom).

Yoga mats and accessories are black too, and a café-style lounge with plush green banquette has timber parquetry, but elsewhere the space is clean and white. “When you work with yoga space you actually work with church…” Harry adds. “It’s all about spirit.”
