“A brand that never forgets great design should be part of our daily life. A brand that never forgets to have a good time every now and then.”

Oh happy day! I feel thrilled to tell you a little story about Discipline – young forward-thinking Italian design brand with smoking hot products to boot. And to make matters even more exciting, their beautiful, well designed and consciously made furniture is now available in Australia exclusively through Stylecraft. Boom!

Let’s start at the beginning, which wasn’t all that long ago. Discipline launched with a bang during the 2012 Salone del Mobile in Milan, with a collection of more than 30 pieces of furniture, accessories and objects. From the outset their brand identity was strongly marked by the exclusive use of natural materials (cork, timber, bamboo, copper, leather and glass), embodying the real values of design (simplicity, functionality, sustainability, durability and beauty).

During Salone del Mobile 2013, Discipline open the doors of the garden at Via Pietro Mascagni 4. The setting was arranged by Arabeschi di Latte, complete with a pop-up shop where the products were able to be purchased. The project concept became the reference model for subsequent corner shops, Shop-in-Shops, etc.

So far, Discipline has collaborated with an impressive stable of leading, established and emerging names (17 designers from 9 countries) such as Nendo, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Mario Bellini, Luca Nichetto amongst others. Within just one year since the launch, their collection can be found in 24 countries, including some of the most prestigious international shop windows including the MoMa Stores, Vitra Museum, Centre Pompidou Design Store and Conran amongst others. Not a bad effort for a such a young company, right? That’s what happens when you are awesome!

As though Discipline wasn’t already on fire, they recently teamed up with an extraordinary photography genius Carl Kleiner to produce their latest catalogue. Just like one would expect from such a collaboration, the result is ridiculously beautiful with Discipline’s superb product range captured in the best possible light. Clever people.

With this much awesome in everything they do, it’s not surprising that Discipline’s blog is also worthy of a little visit. It’s full of beautiful imagery, interesting articles and videos produced by the brand. Their ‘LIVING WITH’ series is a new project that tells the story of inspiring individuals and their incredible lives, through the eyes of renowned interiors photographer Paul Barbera.

Check out the below video of their intimate conversation with the legendary Milan-based architect and designer Mario Bellini, in which he describes his artistic vision and the drive of his creative practice. So good.
