Tour of Ace Hotels Around The World.

    21st March

Ace Hotels really do live up to their name. Each one has a unique style, a fascinating history, and an Ace Philosophy at its heart. For Ace, hospitality is “compassion” and the hotel is a “potential for real, fluid community.” Ace Hotels are iconic around the world for their fresh approach and for changing the way of the hotel industry across the board. Since Alex Calderwood, the late founder of Ace Hotels, decided to convert a maritime workers’ hotel in Seattle with his friends and open the first Ace Hotel in 1999, hotels haven’t been the same. With passionate, creative ideas driving them, Ace has lead the way for boutique hotels with a difference.

Ceresio 7 Pool Bar & Restaurant by Storage & Dimore Studio for DSQUARED² // Milan.

    17th March

Ceresio 7 is a rooftop Pool Bar & Restaurant located in a historical 1930s building from the Fascist era in Milan. The site previously housed the offices of the national electricity company, and is now the home of the Canadian fashion house DSQUARED². Commissioned by Dean and Dan Caten, twin brothers behind DSQUARED², Ceresio 7 has quickly become a social hotspot climbing the charts as the hottest place to be in Milan. But enough of the PR talk – let’s get down to why I really like this place. I have two magic words for you – Dimore Studio. Boom! Pretty much anything these two boys touch turns to gold, and Ceresio 7 is no exception…

Tapestry Museum by CVDB Arquitectos // Arraiolos, Portugal.

    25th February

CVDB Arquitectos have converted an old hospital in the tiny town of Arraiolos in Portugal, into a Tapestry Museum. The town is famed for the embroidered rugs and carpets it produces, so for the 3300 inhabitants that live there, the museum celebrates the local cultural identity. The exterior skin of the building remains largely intact, flowing seamlessly with the character of the surrounding streetscape. The only new external addition is the delicately crafted stair shaft, which hides quietly at the back of the site.
