    Yellowtrace Presents // MILANTRACE, Edizione 2014 (#MDW14).

    25th April

Dearest Yellowtracers, Team Yellowtrace is back from Milan Design Week once again. Holy moly – what an amazing trip. Today I wanted to share with you some of my favourite moments from the #MDW14. Also, I wanted to explain that this year we are taking things to the next level with our Milan report, also known as MILANTRACE, Edizione 2014.

You see, with the proliferation of social media channels, blogs and websites, it feels like Milan Design Week gets washed over and forgotten in no time. Instagram pics are uploaded and #hashtagged, press releases are churned out, quick roundups are shared. But what about presenting it all in a cohesive fashion, addressing the highs and the lows of all the events, Milan’s culture and architecture, comprehensively exploring the sheer enormity and beauty of the World’s premier design event? Well, that’s where we come in.

Manifesto // Nucleo Retrospective in Paris.

    24th April

The Italian Institute of Culture in Paris presents the first important retrospective on Nucleo, the Italian art and design collective led by Piergiorgio Robino. The exhibition was conceived by the Nilufar Gallery in Milan, and curated by Elena Giulia Abbiatici and Melania Rossi. It was set up under the “Promises of Art” program, which aims to promote young talents from the ultra-contemporary Italian art scene.

Arthur Arbesser Fashion Collection Shown at Architect Luca Cipelletti’s Milan Apartment.

    17th April

Austrian designer Arthur Arbesser took over the private home of architect Luca Cipelletti for the debut of his A/W 2014 collection during Milan Fashion Week, set against a killer collection of Modernist art. The apartment windows overlook the high-rise skyline of what the fashion designer refers to as “industrial Milan.”

Event Report // Palm Springs Modernism Week 2014.

    25th March

Armchair tourists, we’re off to California! I recently had the luck to attend this year’s Modernism Week in Palm Springs, with my good friends. With a rented house in the Movie Colony, a bagful of tickets, and heads full of dreams (which is to say we were jetlagged and only half awake), we were primed for a great week. Palm Springs (or as I came to think of it, ‘Hot Bowral’) duly delivered.

Sneak Peek at Design Days Dubai 2014.

    10th March

Design Days Dubai is Middle East’s first dedicated design fair, returning for its third edition with a diverse collection of compelling, highly collectible contemporary design pieces and installations. Don’t worry – you haven’t missed it – we are just way too excited, and wanted to give you the opportunity to snoop around this awesome event before it even happens between 17th – 21st March 2014.

“Where Architects Live” Exhibition at Salone del Mobile // Milan 2014.

    4th March

This year’s premier design event, Salone del Mobile in Milan, will be hosting a very special exhibition titled “Where Architects Live”. The exhibition will provide a unique peek inside the homes of serious design royalty – think Zaha, Libeskind, Chipperfield, Shigeru Ban etc. I know what you’re thinking – they really should have called it “Where STARchitects Live”. As much as it would’ve been really fun to see mediocre furniture and average homes (the reality of many designers and architects I know), I hate to disappoint you – these houses are pretty sexy. No popcorn ceilings, Ikea desks, stained rugs and hand-me-down sofas to be seen here. No sir. It’s all pretty dandy in the land(y) of rockstar architects. Let’s take a closer look.
