Them Chair by Nicholas Karlovasitis & Sarah Gibson from DesignByThem.

Them Chair is the latest addition to the growing collection of Australian made timber furniture by Sydney based DesignByThem. The Chair has the ability to be flat-packed and assembled by the user; functions essential to the global economy, yet uncommon in a product with this level of craftsmanship.

“Them Chair is a modern interpretation of the enduring furniture designs of the 1960’s, inspired by a time when furniture was handcrafted and built to last. We have used the latest technology to reinterpret the design into a reduced form.” – Sarah Gibson.

APP Coat Hanger designed by MATI for Incipit.

Inspired by the classic coat rack, the coat hanger APP is a simple and recognisable shape, enhanced by three hooks and a unique and innovative positioning. Made of turned oak, the different coloured finishes give it an ironic and light-hearted character. Full immersion, analysis and daily observation characterise Mati’s intense approach to design.

Single Origin Roasters by Luchetti Krelle in Surry Hills, Sydney.

The goal behind the redesign of Single Origin – a long time Surry Hills favourite for coffee aficionados – was to give the store a cleaner aesthetic. The interior also required a fun element to reflect the quirky side of the business. The use of an aluminium cladding profile to represent a shipping container highlights the businesse’s strong connections with the origins and ethical trading of beans. Other clever detailing includes the overhead shelving supports wrapped in leather bicycle handle straps to reflect some of the clientele that commute to the area by bike.
