Marble Trends, Marble Design Trend, Marble in Design

Part 02 of Marble Madness looks at examples where marble is juxtaposed with other colours and/ or materials – the look adopted by many high-powered corporate lift lobbies back in the 80s with varying degreed of success, if you’re catching what I’m pitching. I must admit I am yet to embrace this look in it’s entirety as I’m not exactly convinced of it’s longevity (much like the ostentatious corporate lobbies I mentioned).

For what it’s worth, I still think that some of these examples manage to give the stone a fresh new look and a contemporary edge. They also show us that, in some cases, a little bit of marble can go a long way.

Besides, Urquiola recreated patterns that deliberately mimic natural materials like horn, mother-of-pearl, marble and tortoise shell.
