Oh my… This beauty quite literally stopped me in my tracks. You are looking at the Mandala No.1 by South African lighting company Willowlamp. This massive illuminated light sculpture was inspired by Islamic patterns, extruded to create a three-dimensional form with complex interlocking geometry. The light is made out of laser-cut stainless steel frames, chrome plated or lacquered solid brass components and colourful ball-chains.

Isn’t it simply divine? Something about it reminds me of amazing 1920s swing dresses. I can just imagine it in a vast ballroom, or a foyer of a beautiful hotel, or a grand villa… I mean the light, not the dress. Although I could also imagine wearing such a dress to any of those places.
