I am completely smitten by Hiroko Nakajima’s graduate collection titled “Welcome Home” in which she used interior furnishings, reminiscent of her childhood room, to create these sculptural pieces of clothing.

“I got my inspiration from my old room that I used to live when I was younger. I left home for a while but my mother kept my room untouched. When I came back and opened the door of my room, I felt as though my belongings that had been abandoned for years came back to life and welocmed me back. I wanted to express the intimate relationship between an object and its owner.” – Hiroko Nakajima.

Hikoro was born in Tokyo, Japan and currently lives and works in London. She completed Bachelor in Fashion Design (Knitwear) & Master in Fashion Design (Knitwear) at the fabulous Central Saint Martins.

Heh… Well, I certainly wouldn’t wear any of these to my local supermarket, or anywhere really (but Lady Gaga probably would). Regardless, they are really interesting conceptual pieces, don’t you think?
