• Shane McAdams.

    30th November

Well this is just a little bit insane… and very beautiful I might add. Shane McAdams is a Brooklyn based artists who creates abstract paintings using ink extracted from ball-point pens. I love the softness of colour and tones mixed with extreme levels of precision and detail. Shane pushes the boundaries of ballpoint pen through his non-traditional approach – once the ink is extracted from the pen, he heats the liquid and mixes it with solvents. He then applies it to the surface allowing gravity, wind, and other physical forces to direct the movement of the ink…

    Infra by Richard Mosse.

    29th November

Over the years, Irish photographer Richard Mosse has captured everything from postwar ruins in former Yugoslavia, devastation of earthquakes in Iran, Pakistan, and Haiti, occupied palaces of Saddam Hussein, nomadic rebels in the Congolese jungle and more. There is no doubt that Mosse is a man with a taste for danger, but this talented photojournalist does a lot more than chase hard facts in order to capture breaking news. In his latest body or work titled Infra, Mosse uses infrared film to show the civil war in Congo in an entirely different light.

Originally developed for military surveillance technology and camouflage detection, Kodak Aerochrome registers an invisible spectrum of infrared light which renders the colour green in vivid hues of pink, magenta, lavender and red…

    New York Christmas Windows.

    28th November

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… Well, it’s actually been looking a lot like Christmas for a long, long time now. And please don’t get me started on that – you know how I feel about it. And if you don’t, this post will enlighten you if you are interested. Regardless of my feelings on ‘Christmas madness’, every girl loves a beautiful window display, right? I came across some wonderful examples which can be seen along New York’s world famous department stores on Fifth Avenue right now. Hooray! Consider this a little virtual trip to New York courtesy of yellowtrace. Ahhh… you are so welcome!

Last week, Saks heralded its Christmas windows with a performance by the American Ballet Theater. Howzat for awesome? Nicola Formichetti designed “Gaga’s boudoir” for Barney’s made entirely out of hair — both human and artificial follicles used in wigs. …

Fashion Photography vs Amazing Interiors | Take 3 (Black & White Edition).

    25th November

Ok. Since you’ve been really good kids, I’ve decided to bring you the 3rd series of Fashion Photography vs Amazing Interiors (you can check out the first and the second post in case you’ve only just joined us here on yellowtrace.)

I clearly cannot get enough of this series, and it seems neither can you. It’s really no surprise to me as fashion + interiors are a match made in heaven. It’s design laced with sex appeal. That’s a good as it gets as far as I’m concerned. And as a little treat, this series is a special Black & White (limited) edition…

Design Free Thursday | What Happened Bandages.

    24th November

I have a little confession – I’ve got a thing for band-aids. Husband always pays me out about it, but I can’t help it – I love them. As in, I don’t love hurting myself and having to wear one, but I really love quirky, fun and interesting band-aids. I once bought a whole box of Mickey Mouse illustrated bandages which were so cool (promise they were awesome, not the kiddy type with crappy colours or anything – just trust me on this one). Anyway, they actually made me feel a little excited about getting a nasty cut or a graze as it meant I got to wear one… Man, that makes me sound super weird, doesn’t it? Yes it does.

No prizes for guessing that these bandages from Urban Oufitters made me squeal with excitement. They are …
