• Maison Martin Margiela in Beijing.

    28th October

My love of Maison Martin Margiela is reasonably well documented. Various initiatives of this cult Belgian fashion designer have graced the pages of yellowtrace a number of times. So why stop now, right? Right.

Today I wanted to share with you my very latest find – MMM’s newest and largest boutique located at Sanlitun Village in Beijing. Not bad, huh? Even if this interior may be slightly “Googlesque corporate workplacey” with that completely-useless-and-unusable-yet-slightly-fabulous-and-highly-dramatic stainless steel slide in the top image. The store aesthetic beautifully extends the MMM brand and it’s signature edgy and understated style – there is a lot of white on white (on white) mixed with industrial lighting, concrete, stainless steel, and digitally printed wallpaper which merges the reality and trompe-l’oeil effect. Yes!
