Delicately beautiful art installation titled ‘There are no circles’ recently took place at Fondation D’Enerprise Hermès in Brussels. It was created by French-born Brussels-based artist Lionel Estève, who worked with minimal materials and small items such as thread and plastic beads, which he transforms into a magical universe of gem stones and constellations of color.

This installation measured approximately five-meters in diameter, with a spherical form constructed from braided white fishing net with thousands of strung coloured beads. It was attached to a small motor at the base that spun and moved the giant spider-like sculpture as it rotated in the space. Apparently the slow movement gave visitors a very strong physical sense of vertigo. Amazeballs, no?

I am quite certain that photos don’t do this work any justice and that this intricate, playful and dynamic installation had to be experienced in person to be fully appreciated. I figure that if I was seduced by it via still images, I can only imagine how dreamy and poetic it would have been in real life.
