There is so much to love about the work of Myoung Ho Lee, a young artist from South Korea. ” Simple in concept, complex in execution”, he creates extraordinary photographic installations where he makes us look at trees in their natural context, separating them from their original surroundings by presenting them on oversized white backgrounds, reminiscent of paintings or photographs on billboards.

Myoung earned his BA in Photography in 2003, and his Masters in Photography in 2005, and it was his conceptual Tree series (2007) which made him a minor celebrity all over the internet and in pop culture. Unaffected by this (almost) instant fame, Myoung continues practicing photography as well as teaching at Joon-Ang University in Seoul, where he is also working toward his Ph.D.

I thought that these images of trees in various seasons was a nice way to welcome the first day of winter here in Australia. So… Welcome Winter. Thank you for coming. Please be kind to us all, and don’t hang around for too long, ok?

    2. I am so in love with this, especially the very first image with the balloons in the background. I can’t exactly put a finger on why these touch me so much, but thank you for posting and introducing me to Myoung Ho Lee’s work!
