Situated in an old printing factory in Barcelona’s city centre, this apartment consists of two large volumes measuring a whopping 800sqm in total. Wow, that’s a lot of space. I love that the designers, Barcelona based studio MINIM, have left the original fabric of the building largely untouched. Although, I must admit, I am not a fan of how they’ve furnished the place. In fact, I rather dislike it. Actually, let’s cut to the chase – I friggin’ hate it. Strong word, I know. Why? Because there are so many different styles and types of furniture to be seen here.

Don’t get me wrong – I am a real supporter of the eclectic mish mash approach to furnishing. But this to me is more schizophrenic than eclectic – way too many unrelated styles with no common thread, particularly given that the fabric of the space is already quite rich and varied. This is why I had to exclude a few images which didn’t meet the ‘yellowtrace standard’ (you can see them all here). Not to mention that quite a few images are cropped for this post, so that we can focus our attention on the beauty of the space itself, rather than be distracted by the furniture.

What do you guys think? Am I being too hardcore? Probably.

    No, you’re not too hardcore! Just had a look at the original shots – I agree! Yucky! Looks like each item was bought at the same time at some hipster mega-store. Your cropping is a godsend.

    You know, I was scrolling down the images trying to pick out bits I could like in this space. I did like the front doors and the exposed brick, the dressing room and the the height of the ceilings. But when I got to your words I thought ‘phew’. Yipee that you didn’t like either.

    I also wondered how many jackets it would take me to keep warm (but that’s just me being a nut).
