Georges Rousse is a French photographer who takes photos of abandoned spaces such as buildings, parking garages, streetscapes etc. Before taking a photo, Georges paints precise geometrical shapes which produce the illusion of a simple, flat design floating on the surface of the photo.

    Extreme awesomeness!

By the way, I reckon that this post is a bit of a love child of two other post I’ve shared with you before – Haunting photography of abandoned buildings by Katherine Westerhout and Design Free Thursday post on Anamorphic Illusions. Especially that first image. Yeh? Are you with me?

    1. Looking at them, over and over again, tickles my funny bone, you know? It’s a crazy idea, I love it.

I know what you mean Heather. I keep looking at them too and try to work out how he did it. It’s messing with my head!

I was thinking exactly the same thing re: the love child concept when I saw the first picture – it’s incredible!

I never would have guessed that those shapes were actually painted on the surfaces in these spaces! Amazing!
