Ok, I know that this is a massive call, but this is seriously one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen.

Above and below is truly mesmerizing art of the Japanese artist Kumi Yamashita. Her work is insanely good. I really don’t know what else I can say other then that I am still picking up my jaw off the floor.

The beautiful silhouettes in the images above are created using simple objects and lighting. That’s it. Absolutely fascinating! And below are some images of her portraits which use unconventional methods like thread and rubbings. What an incredible talent she is.

Portrait of a boy created by removing threads from a piece of fabric. What? This is absolutely nuts!

Portrait of a boy detailed using fine thread.

Portrait of a man created by rubbing on a credit card! Is she for real?

To fully appreciate Kumi’s work, I urge you to watch this video. Not only does it show more of her pieces and explains her process, it’s also really funny like only Japanese television knows how to be… It’s a cracker!
